Holy Spirit month at C3 Crawley

Written for Articles on Thursday, 24 September 2009 18:48

May 2009 has been our Holy Spirit month at C3 Crawley. We are very aware that the Spirit is our everyday connection with the Almighty God – the Spirit IS God!

One of the goals for our church is that we would see 50+ people filled with this Spirit in such a way that they speak in tongues for the first time. Speaking in tongues is not like a Scouts badge – some form of achievement – instead it is simply an intimate method of prayer. As we have made space in our services this month for the Holy Spirit to minister to us and through us, many people have been abundantly blessed.

Here is a testimony from one of those meetings:

I have never spoken in tongues in my life. I have been interested in it but haven't truly desired to do it. I wasn't feeling unusual or different throughout the service although I felt really good about Ps Frank Hultgren's preaching. It happened right at the end of the service. I wasn't expecting anything different to happen, but I kept an open mind to what God may have in store for me.

Ps Frank told everybody to take a deep breath in, 'HOLD', then breathe out. As I breathed out it was as if God had taken over my voice and I didn't even have to try to speak but the words kept rolling off my tongue. The sound didn't feel like it was coming from my voice box but from the top part of the back of my mouth. When I was breathing it almost felt like I was on cloud nine and was breathing in pure oxygen. After the tongues stopped, I couldn't stay still or keep a smile off my face for about ten minutes. It was truly a first for me and gave me a feeling of reassurance and just how REAL God is! I really feel God wants us to chase and desire him first. By doing that all other things will follow.
